Engle Trust Fund Distribution UPDATE

On Friday, June 26, 2009, the Engle Trust Fund Trustee, Miles A. McGrane, III announced the following: 

It is with great pleasure that we have made the third and final distribution in the amount of $716.39. The total distribution for each of the 42,553 injured or deceased smokers is $13,016.39. As we close the Engle Trust Fund with this last distribution, I want to thank each of you for the opportunity to serve as your Trustee this past year. FAA settles Vilano crash cases for $3.75 million

The federal government has agreed to pay $3.75 million to the families of three people killed when a small plane crashed into the ocean off Vilano Beach in 2005.

Though the Federal Aviation Administration admitted no fault in the court settlement, lawyers for the families of the pilot, his daughter and a teenage friend said the amount speaks volumes. They had blamed negligence by air traffic controllers for the deaths.
